Setting Up for a Smooth Video Visit
A little preparation goes a long way toward a glitch-free telehealth appointment:
- Install the MyChart app on the smartphone or tablet you plan to use, or confirm you can sign in to MyChart on your computer, well before your appointment time.
- Pick a quiet, well-lit spot with a reliable internet connection so your provider can see and hear you clearly.
- Keep a list of your current medications and any questions for your provider within reach, just as you would for an office visit.
- If the video connection gives you trouble, the MyChart troubleshooting line at 1.855.364.7936 can help you get reconnected.
Common Telehealth Questions
Do I have to be an established Riverview Health patient?
Yes. MyChart video visits are available only to current Riverview Health patients, and the appointment must be scheduled by calling your provider's office.
How do I get MyChart access before my first video visit?
Ask your Riverview Health provider for an access code, or call 317.776.7141 and press option 2 to request one. You can read about everything the portal offers on our MyChart overview page.
Is a video visit appropriate for every health concern?
No. Serious or life-threatening symptoms — chest pain, difficulty breathing, or injuries that may need an X-ray — require calling 911 or going to the emergency room. For everything in between, you can compare in-person options on our schedule an appointment page.
